University of Michigan Scholars Visit St. Ignace on Educational Journey Across State

Michigan Road Scholars in St. IgnaceBy Josh Perttunen. Faculty from the University of Michigan tabbed three locations in St. Ignace as must-see destinations on a five-day road trip across the state. The travelers were interested to see and discuss rural education in St. Ignace Area Schools. They also desired to understand the day-to-day operations, decision-making, and history of the Mackinac Bridge. Additionally, they wanted to explore the unique partnership between the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians and the Mackinac Straits Health System, and delve deeper into the hospital's approach to rural health care and the traditional healing practices of the Tribe. MORE
